ItunesPWN, Downgraden met de laatste itunes versie naar oudere firmware
 

Volgens mij was dit niet meer mogelijk sinds de lancering van itunes 7.7 en hoger. Nu kwam ik de volgende tool tegen in xpwn:

This Windows utility will replace a file in your %APPDATA%\Apple Computer\ Device Support folder. Subsequently, if you place your phone into DFU mode and iTunes recognizes it, Apple will automatically upload an exploit file onto your phone that will allow it to accept custom firmware (until it is turned off). This basically will allow you to restore any IPSW you want from that version of iTunes (provided you connect your phone in DFU mode).
See the following section for detailed instructions on how to enter DFU mode.

The custom.ipsw is needed for the exploited WTF that was generated during IPSW generation.

Klinkt erg handig, maar werkt het ook?

Is dit niet ook wat de optie 'iPwner' doet in de WinWpwn 2.0.0.x app?

Volgens mij wel ja, maar ben nu aan het testen. ;)

Maar ik heb laatst met WinPwn een custum firmware voor de 2G gemaakt en daarbij de 'iPwner' optie niet eens gebruikt. Kon daarna gewoon via Itunes de Custom firmware installeren dus begrijp die hele optie niet zo goed.

Je kunt hiermee dus terug naar 1.1.4 terwijl dit eerst niet meer ging in itunes 7.7 ;)
