With the carrier update settings users can't switch from 4G network to EDGE.
The problem is that 3G network, unfortunately, has a major impact on the battery when not in use, so below I'm giving you a simple guide to get back the 2G/EDGE connection.

Things Needed:
JB iPhone5 or higher with iOS7+
iFile or WinSCP

How To:
Either SSH to your Device or Just use iFile from the Device:
Navigate to System/Library/CarrierBundles/iPhone/TMobile_hr.bundle (if it is T-Mobile Croatia)

Go to the folder and make 2 copies of the carrier.plist. Keep 1 for back up if anything goes bad.

Open the carrier.plist with the Plist editor and change
< key> DataIndicatorOverrideForLTE < /key>
< string> 4G < /string>

to
< key> DataIndicatorOverrideForLTE < /key>
< string> 3G < /string>

Save the file and copy it to the directory var/mobile/Library/Preferences

Delete the file called com.apple.carrier.plist

Paste the file you copied earlier and rename it to com.apple.carrier.plist

click on the properties of the newly renamed file and set the owner and group to Mobile and permissions 0755.

REBOOT your iPhone

At this point, instead of the 4G button in Settings>Cellular there will be 3G switch.

If restarting the phone would not connect to the internet just repeat the operation.

Werkt bij mij prima. Aangezien Vodafone mij, bij m'n oude contract, geen 4G wilt aanbieden, ben ik blij dat ik de 3G-button weer terug heb :)

3G-button was terug, maar internet werkte niet meer. Opgelost dor een profiel te downloaden -> World Wide Mobile Phone Settings

In tekst:

Step 1: Grab iFile, or any similar SSH utility, from Cydia.
Step 2: Navigate to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/iPhone and look locate your carrier’s ‘.bundle’ folder. Open it up and scroll down to the bottom.
Step 3: When you reach the “overrides_N51_N53.pri” file, tap on the ‘i’ button, and then add a “%” to the file name, which should leave you with “overrides_N51_N53.pri%”. Hit Done to confirm.
Step 4: Then, you’ll need to find the Signatures folder and perform the same action, changing
“overrides_N51_N53.plist” file to “overrides_N51_N53.plist%”.
Step 5: Finally, reboot your device, and you’ll be good to go. If, at any time, you wish to reinstate LTE, just follow the tutorial above but instead, remove the percentage signs.

werkt perfect in iOS8.1!

Werkt wel, maar zodra je 4g wil activeren via CCControls loopt je iPhone vast!

kan ik wel 4G met ccc aanzetten, zelf geen 4G bereik, maar de setting is wel active en krijg ik een 3G verbinding.

Kan ook komen doordat dat jij een 6 hebt.
