Oplossing Exchange 2003 (OMA) met SSL
 

Ik heb sinds gisteren firmware 2.0 op mijn iPhone gezet en ben gelijk gaan testen met de Exchange koppeling. Ik heb het na urenlang eindelijk aan de praat en om anderen dit te besparen zet ik hier even neer wat mijn oplossing was.

Wij hebben een Microsoft Exchange 2003 Enterprise Server op Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Om veilig te mailen vereisen(!) wij het gebruik van SSL. Wij gebruiken een SSL certificaat die niet standaard herkent word door de iPhone.

In eerste instantie dacht ik dat het aan de certificaten lag dus heb ik via de iPhone Web Configuration Utility de certificaten op mijn iphone gezet (via mijn gmail).

Hierna werkte het nog steeds niet en ben ik verder gaan zoeken. Om een lang verhaal kort te maken komt het omdat de iPhone bij het synchroniseren OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) aanspreekt. OMA spreekt onderwater de map /Exchange aan (in IIS). Omdat SSL vereist is werkt dat niet.

Er moet een aparte map aangemaakt worden (/Exchange-OMA) die alleen toegankelijk is vanaf de server zelf (en vanaf localhost). SSL moet op die map uit staan. Op de rest van de mappen mag Require SSL dus wel aan staan.

Ook de communicatie tussen de iPhone en onze Exchange server is via SSL, alleen tussen OMA en Exchange zelf niet, dat is geen beveiligingsrisico aangezien die communicatie op de server onderling plaats vind.

Daarna kan er succesvol gesynchroniseerd worden.

Dit werkt als je Windows 2003 hebt, maar als je windows 2000 hebt moet je via metabase edit de virtuele map kopieëren:

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
a. Open the Metabase Editor (MetaEdit) tool. To do this, click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Metaedit.
b. In Metaedit, expand theLM/W3SVC/1/Root/Exchange folder, and then click Exchange,
c. On the Metabase menu, click Export Text File, and then click Yes in the Metaedit dialog box.
d. In the file name box, type Exchange-OMA, and then click Save.
e. In the Metaedit dialog box, click Yes.
f. In the Metaedit dialog box, click OK.
g. Locate and then open the Exchange-OMA.txt file.
h. Locate the line that resembles the following: [/LM/W3SVC/1/Root/Exchange]. This is line number 6.
i. Type -OMA after Exchange so that the line resembles the following:
[/LM/W3SVC/1/Root/Exchange-OMA]
j. On the File menu, click Save.
k. On the File menu, click Exit.
l. In Metabase Editor, click the following folder:
LM/W3SVC/1/Root
m. On the Metabase menu in Metabase Editor, click Import Text File.
n. In the Metaedit dialog box, click Yes.
o. In the Open dialog box, click the Exchange-OMA file, and then click Open.
p. In the Metaedit dialog box, click No.
q. In the Metaedit dialog box, click Yes.
r. In the Metaedit dialog box, click OK.
s. Expand the following folder:
LM/W3SVC/1/Root
t. Verify that the following folders exist in the Exchange folder:
LM/W3SVC/1/Root/Exchange-OMA
u. Open Internet Information Server (IIS) Manager, and then verify that the Exchange-OMA folder exists under Default Web site.
