ezPhone van George Zhu

op de blog van George Zhu staat een intressant stuk over zijn ezPhone versie, hiermee kun je gelijk met de unlock,jailbreak en activatie allerlei software installeren die je normaal toch wel installeerd.

Ook staat er op zijn blog wel 3x de melding dat hij dit echt zelf heeft gemaakt en dat het zeker geen copy en paste werk is zoals de tool van zibri :D. Nah ik geloof het wel, maar het ziet er zeker erg intressant uit. :)

De tool is nog niet gereleased trouwens.

Ja ik las het Ziet er goed uit. En George was ook 1 van de eerste die 114 kon jailbreaken met een gemodde versie van ziphone Daar zat nog geen unlock bij maar dat maakte mij niet uit had namelik al geo ipsf methode gebruikt.

ja die geo ipsf methode staat er bij mij ook op inderdaad. voortaan kunnen we dus over als de jailbreak en activatie er is en dankzij deze tool kun je alles installeren zonder Wi-Fi !
ben ook erg benieuwd wat er onder advanced staat :)

Ok, for all those questions, here’re the answers :)
When will this be released? I’m not quite sure but I hope I can make it at the next weekend, so far, I have finished the following features:
Jailbreak 1.0.2 to 1.1.4
Activate 1.0.2 to 1.1.4
Unlock 1.1.3/1.1.4 with gunlock (downgrade BB to 04.02.13_G, not touching BL)

Ja vette applicatie Maar niet voor de beginnende unlocker.

Als hij die Anysim en GeoUnlock erbij zet maak ik er een wiki artikeltje van :)

Net de tool even opgestart en er zit een update functie in :eek:
Verder ook even een screenshot gemaakt van de andere 2 pagina's voor de geintresseerden. ;)

Dit ziet er inderdaad heel goed uit. Nu hopen dat hij snel de genoemde unlock functies inbouwt.

Als je een IPSF unlock hebt kun je hem al voor alles gebruiken.

Interessant ArB, dank voor de miniatuurtjes! Ik ga deze apllicatie ook eens nader bekijken.

even ter info de ipsf hack werkt ALLEEN met bootloader 3.9 en dus niet met 4.6 ;)
en deze tool installeerd niet de ipsf-hack maar enkel de bestanden die je nodig hebt om met een ongemodificeerde baseband te kunnen bellen.
als je toch vinkje bij ipsf probeerd kun je een DEFINITIEF gelockte baseband krijgen. u bent gewaarschuwd.

Als ik dit stukje lees snap ik gelijk waarom ik steeds meer vraagtekens zet bij Ziphone en toch meer richting Iplus of Iliberty trek.
De techniek erachter is gewoon beter en dus ook veiliger.

I’ve been a lazy guy and love to use already-made tools but hate writing it myself. I’m fine with the CLI tools for quite a long time during iPhone hacking process, but there’s one thing that annoys me every now and then, each tool has very specific purpose and hard to extend, it’s not a problem for people that use their iPhone as ‘phone’. For me, it’s more a computer with an interesting operating system than a phone, and I often do some experiments on it, so I need a way to quickly re-install the phone to a given state, as I said in previous article, there’s no such a tool that fulfills my needs, and this triggered my iLiberty project.
Okay, now iLiberty initial revision has been released, and I have co-operated with AViegas to share the same core scripts between iPlus and iLiberty (We actually have co-operated for quite some time), the next revision will use iPlus core scripts.
Before I start to write iLiberty, there’re actually three implementation methods for me to choose:

1. Put everything into ramdisk, and do all the job through one boot
2. Ramdisk does some jobs but leaves the others in the next boot
3. Ramdisk does almost nothing and all jobs are done in the next boot

The first choice is great, as it does everything in one turn and needs no multiple boots, ZiPhone (developed by Zibri) uses this method. However, the restrictions are obvious: ramdisk size can not exceed 32MB, this includes the prepended 0xCC2000 bytes, so the maximum possible size is around 19MB. Due to the space restrictions, it’s usage is quite limited. So this method can only do very simple jobs, like jailbreak, activation, unlock some specific baseband version, etc. Besides the space limitation, there’s another severe potential problem, when booting with ramdisk, if too much memory is used, memory will be corrupted eventually (because of overlapping I guess) and thus halt the phone, this weird behavior was first found by AViegas, a normal system doesn’t have this problem. This can be easily replayed by trying to extract some very large files, from my experience, extracting three 20MB files guaranteed to halt the phone.
The second choice is my choice in iLiberty initial revision, the ramdisk does all those jobs that normally require a reboot, e.g. to add AFC2 (iPHUC/iBrickr requires it), Services.plist needs to be patched, then a reboot is required for it to work. This method minimizes the chance to reboot, and also offers the flexibility. However, the severe memory problem in method one also happens in this method, the phone will halt when memory are over used.
Now the third choice, in this method ramdisk basically does nothing (or very few jobs), it sets up a minimal BSD environment for scripts to run, then put a service on iPhone, when phone reboots, the service will be launched and then uses the minimal BSD tool set to finish the jobs. This method is by far the most reliable one, and can satify all the current needs in iphone hacking. No memory overlapping problem, not space restrictions. The only drawback is, for some works to be done, several additional reboots might be needed. iPlus (developed by AViegas) uses this method, and it does its job very well, there’re some minor issues though, but in general it’s a great tool.

Zoals George Zhu het uitlegt is dus de IPlus methode van AViegas de meest betrouwbare en meest veilige. Of het ook de beste tool is, dat is weer een ander verhaal, denk ik.

Dat heb ik ook zo begrepen inderdaad. En vergeet niet dat george zhu en het dev-team goede banden hebben. Iplus en iliberty gaan nauw samen werken en iliberty heeft wel een gui.

Ik heb ook alle vertrouwen in de toekomstige ontwikkelingen, maar voor het moment vind ik mijn Iphone 1.1.4 met een 4.6BL wel even prima zo.....:D

Aangezien ik toch wel erg nieuwsgierig was naar deze tool, heb ik de iphone maar weer eens in restore mode gezet :D

Ik had nog de Geohot IPSF hack erop staan dus zou deze tool precies moeten doen wat ik wil. :)

Stap 1. Enter DFU mode aangeklikt en het scherm wordt blauw
Stap 2. Restore aangezet in Itunes (iliberty crashed tussendoor, maar aangezien de restore toch bezig is is dit niet erg)
Stap 3. Itunes open laten staan met de melding this sim card is not supported en iliberty gestart. alles aangevinkt en op Go for it! geklikt
Er gebeurt niets.....
Stap 4. Itunes afgesloten en nogmaals Iliberty gestart en alles aangevinkt en Go for it! Ditmaal met succes!

En voila een geactiveerde en ge-jailbreakte iphone met werkende telefoon.
Itunes had een fix nodig, na installatie daarvan werkte het weer.

Alles geinstalleerd en het werkt prima, behalve de forward message fix, die heeft een probleem met de ipsf methode van Iliberty.

eindconclusie: Leuke tool als je weet waar je meer bezig bent, maar voorlopig is het nog iets te buggy.
