WinPwn eindelijk beschikbaar

Ik heb maar een apart topic gemaakt voor de windows versie van pwnage. :D

Laatste status in het IRC kanaal is dat er een beta gaat komen en dat iedereen hem mag testen. Er wordt dus niet meer aan getest / gesleuteld.
Release ? helaas nog niet bekend. :(

Aangezien de maker van dit pakket in New York woont, en overdag werkt, moet je geen release verwachten voor 23.00 uur.

Hij zegt elke dag dat hij bijna klaar is. Nu zegt hij dus van publieke beta, maar die is natuurlijk ook nog niet "af". Een week geleden was de final versie al af, maar hij moest nog even een paar kleine dingen doen.

Het verhaal is dat de ipsw builder niet goed werkt.
Maar de tool om hem op je iphone te zetten werkt wel prima.
De beta komt omdat iedereen erom zit te zeuren.

Hahaa nou ik maak me er niet zo druk om, heb liever een goed werkende winpwn dan een tool met allemaal bugs erin

jaja dat ken ik nu wel die beta tool zal ook wel weer volgende week worden in het begin was ik hem nog dankbaar dat hij dit gratis en in zijn vrije tijd wou doen maar het begint me te vervelen dat hele winpwn me iphone werkt nu ook en dat hou ik maar zo

Gebruikers zeuren om een tool waarvan men weet dat hij nog niet goed werkt. Handjes af voorlopig wat mij betreft.

Volgens mij liggen zowel winpwn.com als iphonelinux.org er nu uit. Ik krijg tenminste geen beeld meer.

There is 2 parts of the pwnage hack. First part being the actual "pwn" which flashes a custom bootloader. This will allow you to load modified ipsw files (i.e ones that have custom logos and have already been jailbroken). Second part is the IPSW Builder which lets you customize your ipsws
Winpwn

Winpwn is written in C# and C. The UI is done in C# and provides a wrapper for QEMU, which boots a stripped down Linux kernel and uses initramfs to store all the utils in memory.
Ipwner

When you click Ipwner, QEMU is started and iBoot is extracted from the IPSW file and passed to QEMU as a disk drive. A binary structure is passed and as well as a copy of the ramdisk that will boot and pwn your device. Once QEMU starts it loads the winpwn binary using initramfs and reads the binary structure for instructions on what to do. It then mounts the ramdisk and patches iBoot. Once this is done, it reboots and winpwn will boot the ramdisk.
IPSW Builder

By far the most complex (and pain in my ass part) is the IPSW builder. To understand why you first need to know that the file system format that Apple uses isn't compatible with Windows. This is the main reason i used QEMU for the initial release (it will be replaced later on with real HFS support). Once a user has selected the apps they want and to unlock, QEMU is booted. This time QEMU is given the IPSW file, binary structure, a blank ext2 file system for storage. Once winpwn is launched it reads the binary structure and starts to patch the ipsw files depending on the options selected by the user.
Messages are passed to winpwn from QEMU via a serial connection. This enables me to update the process bar and also allows for messages about what's happening inside the QEMU process.
I will post more detailed information about the process in the next few days. This will be released under GPL as soon as the final version has been released.

WinPwn eindelijk beschikbaar in betaversie 0.99.1.8

WinPwn iw verschenen in een eerste betaversie 0.99.1.8, waarin verschillende opties zijn uitgeschakeld en waarbij het nog niet mogelijk is om naar firmware 2.0+ te gaan. Een eerste final versie zou binnen een paar dagen moeten volgen.
