Het "Dream Team" heeft Absinthe uitgebracht voor een untethered jailbreak van iOS 5.0 en 5.0.1 op volgende iDevices met een A5 processor: (Mac OS X en Windows)

• iPhone 4S
• iPad 2

Voor alle andere devices was/is er al een untethered jailbreak; meer info daarover in een ander verzameltopic.

Here is a really short guide how to jailbreak using the CLI version of Absinthe on Windows:

Download:
1. open CMD.exe
2. cd to the cinject.exe
3. execute the command: cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig
4. execute the command: cinject.exe -j payloads
5. execute the command: cinject.exe -w
6. toggle the VPN switch in settings
7. Ignore the VPN error and wait for reboot 8. Done, find Cydia.

Als het mislukt omdat een assertie faalt kun je het beste je device als nieuw naar 5.0.1 herstellen en het nog eens proberen (en daarna je backup terugzetten).

HOW TO: Use The Terminal To Run Absinthe And Bypass Errors

Absinthe, the new jailbreaking tool for iPhone 4S and iPad 2, is here but it’s not perfect. Many users can’t jailbreak their devices no matter what they do. The tool was updated to bypass the database connection errors that most people encountered due to massive server loads. Still a no go for some. Planetbeing suggested we try to use terminal.app to run Absinthe, and we did just that. Worked flawlessly.

1. Download Absinthe - updated version ( FSM mirror download )

2. Unzip and put it in a folder on your desktop

3. Open Terminal ( /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app )



4. cd into the folder that contains Absinthe. The easiest way is to type cd and drag-n-drop the folder into terminal


5. Type ./Absinthe.app/Contents/MacOS/Absinthe


6. Now Absinthe will load. Click on ‘Jailbreak’ and sit back and relax.



7. Open up the Absinthe app , and wait for your device to reboot

8. Enjoy your jailbroken device
